Overview

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade and to celebrate the event will include an all-day, all-ages Haunted Halsted Block Party in the lead-up!

The free-to-watch parade, ranked one of the top ten in the US by Fodor’s Travel, has a spectacular Costume Contest with hundreds of entrants (Sign Up Free) featuring $4,000 in cash prizes and concludes with an awards presentation.

The costume competition covers 5 categories: Character, Creative, Scary, Youth (<13) and Group.

Northalsted has a ton of Halloween events throughout October: Parade after parties and contests, the Lakeview Halloween Pup Crawl, Drag Competition, Trick or Treat, and more.

Event Schedule

  • 7:30PM    Parade Kickoff at Halsted & Belmont
  • 8:00PM    Parade Ends at Halsted & Cornelia

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade and to celebrate the event will include an all-day, all-ages Haunted Halsted Block Party in the lead-up! From 11:00am to 10:00pm, vendors at the October 31st Haunted Halsted Block Party + Parade will be able to show and sell their products within the event footprint to an anticipated 10,000 daytime and nighttime attendees.
The Block Party portion of the event will occur on N. Halsted Street between Aldine Avenue and Brompton Avenue from 11:00am to 6:00pm with vendor promenades set up on the adjacent/intersecting streets. Music, street performers, a dedicated kids’ craft-and-play area, and other Halloween-themed activities will occur throughout the day. Beginning at 6pm, N. Halsted Street will be cleared to make room for the 7pm Halloween Parade kickoff, with vendors still able to utilize their booth locations on intersecting streets up to the 10:00pm event end.
