Why Salt Lake City?
Visit Utah in April when all is waking up from its winter sleep. Spring tulips are in full bloom, the sun warms the valley floor while mountain sloops still glisten with white pristine brilliance. Tour museums, enjoy fine dining, visit Olympic venues, listen to the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir, golf, hike, mountain bike& and much more. It’s Big City cosmopolitan meets an alpine resort! Only in Salt Lake can you stroll through the heart of downtown and, just twenty minutes later, explore a mountain meadow. Without doubt, Salt Lake City is one of the friendliest and scenic cities in America.
The Course Route…
The Marathon, Half Marathon and Bike Tour all start at the Olympic Legacy Bridge at the University of Utah, the site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Athlete Village. The gentle course then skirts the base of the towering Wasatch Mountains, travels through the Federal Heights neighborhood and the scenic 11th Avenue before dropping into downtown and near Temple Square through Memory Grove.
The route then snakes through city streets and passes by cozy neighborhoods and elegant estates, winding through Salt Lake’s legendary wide streets, and through gorgeous Sugar House and Liberty Parks until it culminates between Library and Washington Squares. It’s a finish where the music will absolutely rock, the energy will surge, and crowds of enthusiastic spectators will cheer participants on!
– The Salt Lake City Marathon is certified and sanctioned through USATF, and is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
