Our Team

Starting out in 2001 as an intern, Karyn has certainly seen it all throughout her time at SEM. Her current duties include managing the marketing, graphics and public relations department. Being organized has kept her successful in marketing over 40 events annually as well as maintaining various websites, assisting in the sponsorship department and various other daily duties.

Q & A with Karyn

What’s your favorite activity to do outside of work?
Doing anything with my family! We love going to our neighborhood pool, hanging with friends and family and traveling.

What’s your favorite part of working at SEM?
The sense of family (dysfunctional at times)! Everyone really has each others backs when it comes to events.

What’s your favorite event we manage and why?
Rosehill Cemetery Crypt Run. We worked hard to make this event happen and it has such a cool vibe. Totally unique.

What are your three favorite foods?
Popcorn, pizza, more popcorn

If you were a superhero, what would your name be?
Morning Star

Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room and why?
Funniest. Whit can take you far!

Name the best place you’ve visited in Chicago.
I love afternoons at the grassy spots near Montrose Harbor. It’s so peaceful, has great views and takes you away from the hustle.
