Kick off 2010 on the healthy footing at the New Year's Day 5K Run & Walk--Chicago's first official 5K running event of 2010! This iconic annual run/walk -- now celebrating its 24th year -- is a fave with Windy City sports enthusiasts!
An estimated 1,500 runners and walkers are expected to lace up on the first day of the New Year at the run & walk that starts at the south end of Lincoln Park. The course route winds north along the lakefront bike path to Diversey Harbor before returning to the North Avenue Field House.
A portion of run/walk proceeds will benefit the Lake View Citizens' Council, a non-profit neighborhood organization. In addition, there will be a post-event party at a cozy neighborhood establishment that includes the awarding of winner trophies and raffle prizes. This gathering will also include a complimentary drink to those 21 years of age and older (with ID) as well as non-alcoholic drinks for participants of all ages.

$30 after December 1st - 5K Chip-timed Run, 5K Fun Run, 5K Walk
$30 race day - 5K Fun Run, 5K Walk

About the Beneficiary - Lakeview Citizens' Council
|
 The LAKE VIEW CITIZENS' COUNCIL (LVCC) is a non-profit civic organization serving the Lakeview community on the north side of Chicago, Illinois. Its boundaries (roughly Lake Michigan on the east, the north branch of the Chicago River on the west, Diversey Parkway on the south, going south on Lakewood Avenue until it meets the Chicago River, and Irving Park Road on the north) are approximately those of the original township of Lake View founded in the early 1800's and annexed by the City of Chicago in 1903.
