In a city known as a mecca for outdoor recreation lovers (and host of the 2002 Winter Olympics), this jam-packed sporting event features full and half marathons, a 25-mile bike tour, a 5K run as well as the "Quality of Life" sports/fitness expo. It even includes a 1K fun marathon for kids.

Spring blossoms and scenic snowcapped mountains will greet participants at this acclaimed annual gathering which attracts more that 10,000 sports enthusiasts (plus spectators galore). The breathtaking course route for several events includes passing through cozy neighborhoods and near elegant estates to city streets, over bridges and the base of gentle foothills. Whether or not you're a resident of greater Salt Lake City (or even Utah), a trip out West to participate in this iconic annual sporting event is well worth considering.

The Salt Lake City Marathon is also USA Track & Field (USATF)-certified and a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

Why Salt Lake City:
Visit Utah in April when all is waking up from its winter sleep. Spring tulips are in full bloom, the sun warms the valley floor while mountain sloops still glisten with white pristine brilliance. Tour museums, enjoy fine dining, visit Olympic venues, listen to the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir, golf, hike, mountain bike, and more. Big-city cosmopolitan meets alpine resort in Salt Lake. Only in Salt Lake can you stroll through the heart of downtown, and just twenty minutes later, explore a mountain meadow. Come see why Salt Lake City is considered one of the friendliest cities in America.

Course:
The Marathon, Half Marathon, and Bike Tour all start at the Olympic Legacy Bridge at the University of Utah, the site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Athlete Village. The gentle course then skirts the base of the towering Wasatch Mountains, travels through the Federal Heights neighborhood and the scenic 11th avenue before dropping into downtown and near Temple Square through Memory Grove. The route then snakes through city streets and passes by cozy neighborhoods and elegant estates, winding through Salt Lakes legendary wide streets, and through gorgeous Sugar House and Liberty Parks until it culminates on 200 E between Library and Washington Squares.

Here, the music will absolutely rock, the energy will surge, and crowds of enthusiastic spectators will cheer participants on!

The Salt Lake City Marathon is certified and sanctioned through USATF, and is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
