About the Beneficiaries ...
|
The Lincoln Square Foundation supports educational and cultural activities in the Lincoln Square community. The proceeds from Christkindl Market will, in part, support educational programs including scholarships, the development of a community center, a youth group program, sports activities, and the arts with an emphasis of keeping people connected at the neighborhood level.
St. Matthias Parish and School is situated in the heart of Lincoln Square, a Chicago neighborhood known for its rich cultural heritage, ethnic diversity, and deep-rooted faith traditions. A century ago St. Matthias was built to accommodate the needs of the growing Catholic population and now we find ourselves at a similar turning point. Visit www.stmatthiasschool.org for more information on St. Matthias School.
With new parishioners and a corresponding increase in school enrollment, St. Matthias must renovate and expand its school campus to meet the needs of its current and future student body. St. Matthias offers its culturally, economically, and academically diverse student body the educational room to grow!
We offer our culturally, economically, and academically diverse student body the educational room to grow. We now need the physical room to grow.
With your generous support of Lincoln Square Christkindl Market, St. Matthias will be able to realize its vision of educating students not only for who they are, but for who they have the potential to become.
The Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce is organized to focus attention and initiate action on the major issues affecting the economic well-being and quality of life in the area. The Chamber is a private, not-for-profit membership association supported by our membership and the City of Chicago, Department of Planning and Development. The policies and programs of the Chamber are determined by its membership through its Board of Directors. The board, in turn, selects a paid full-time chief executive whose basic function is to organize and execute the Chamber's program of work. The chief executive assembles a professional staff to assist in supporting the membership. The Lincoln Square Chamber works through a number of committees and task forces. Members who participate in these committees and task forces have a direct impact on Chamber positions and have the opportunity to influence community action. For more information on the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce visit www.lincolnsquare.org.

Ameya is the Alderman of Chicago's 47th Ward. Prior to his election, Ameya was on staff at Northwestern University in the Office of Emergency Management. At Northwestern, Ameya was responsible for the development of a university-wide business continuity program.
While working at Northwestern, Ameya and two of his classmates from the University of Chicago were awarded a contract from Taylor and Francis to write a textbook based on their work in emergency management. The textbook is based on a model Ameya developed with Charna Epstein and Scott Simon at the University of Chicago's MSTRM program, the model is called Social Intelligence. Their work calls for the real-time aggregation of data to develop composite views of communities to better inform emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery activities. Ameya and his co-authors have presented their work at annual FEMA conferences and other national conferences since 2008. Ameya holds a M.S. in Threat and Response Management from the University of Chicago and a M.P.A. in Public Administration from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Ameya is currently enrolled in a third master's degree program at the University of Chicago in the school of Social Service Administration. In 2009, Ameya was a US State Department Scholar.
Ameya is also active in his community, he sits on the board of directors on the 47th Ward's Common Pantry and the state-wide advocacy organization, the Illinois Center for Violence Prevention. Ameya is also an avid runner and hopes to one day learn to play the banjo.
