Bastille Day 5K & 8K Run, Walk & Block Party

Bastille Day 5K & 8K Run, Walk & Block Party

Date: Thursday, July 11
Time: 8K: 7:15 p.m. | 5K: 7:30 p.m. Start
Location: Lincoln Park (Cannon & Fullerton) | Chicago
Beneficiary: Mercy Home for Boys and Girls
The popular mid-summer Chicago event will again be a celebration of all things French as well as that country's Bastille Day national holiday (officially July 14). In 2012 the run/walk celebrates its 31st anniversary as well as its new home in Lincoln Park which, until 2010, had been in the West Loop.

Following the run/walk, participants will be treated to a free block party with food, refreshments and entertainment at the nearby Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Proceeds will again benefit Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

The purpose of this event is to raise funds for Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. This residential child-care facility offers abused, abandoned and neglected children hope and constructive means towards forming a healthy life and future. Nine residential homes provide Mercy's children with a healthy, nurturing environment. Mercy Home's children receive love, shelter, clothing, education, medical care, moral values and the life skills necessary to live independently. Mercy Home is funded by private donations.

Chip-Timed Run
This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!

The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.

After crossing the finish line, the tag is your's to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the Bastille Day 5K Run & Walk.

Download this document instructions on how to attach the tag to your shoes on race day.
